Our Staff Team
Matt & Kori Podszus
Matt and Kori Podszus have been ministering with Navigators since 1999. Matt grew up in Colorado Springs, CO and studied journalism at KU. He was deeply helped by a young Nav staff, who helped him grow deeply in his relationship with Christ and to develop a heart to impact men. Kori grew up in Greensburg, KS and studied horticulture therapy at K-State. She was impacted by the staff at KSU, who helped her come to love studying God's word and teaching others to study to do the same.
They both joined staff after graduation through a program called EDGE Corps. Matt was serving at the University of Nebraska-Kearney and Kori at Colorado State when they met at a staff training event.
They moved to Lawrence and were married in 2001.
Their daughter Sophia was born in April of 2005. She's an energetic girl who loves ideas and stories. Their daughter Elsa was born in February of 2008. She's a little servant who loves her friends, loves serving and LOVES back-scratches! Asher was born in April of 2011 (on Easter). So far his big thing is watching his sister's with amazement and smiling (his policy is "free smiles, no questions asked".)
Matt has directed the ministry since 2004 and loves to write, design materials, teach and come along side men who long to know Jesus and to reach their friends.
Kori is a wonderful mom and a strong discipler of women. She balances these things well, because she is also very administratively gifted. She reaches out to her peers in the community with warmth and love. Matt and Kori have developed a deep heart for the lives of people in Lawrence.
Contact Matt.
Give to Matt and Kori's ministry.

When I arrived at the University of Kansas as a student in 2004, my walk with Jesus was mainly based on me trying to be a good enough person so I would be accepted by God. I immediately got involved with The Navigators and through that, God opened my eyes to see I can never be good enough to be accepted by Him. I have now been on staff since 2008 with The Navigators and count it a privilege to help college students see the unsearchable riches found only in Christ.

I first met the Navigators as a freshman in college at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. I came from a wonderful Christian family, but I still lacked a real, mature relationship with God. So during my 4 years as a student, the Navigators had a huge impact on the way I understood God, the Gospel, and what it looks like to be a follower of Jesus. I also had the privilege of being involved in leading several Bible studies, attending a Summer Training Program in Jacksonville, FL and got to spend a summer in Shizuoka, Japan on a Navigator mission trip. I also was encouraged in my faith by several godly Nav staff women. So went it came time to graduate in 2008, it only made sense for me to come on staff to help other young women grow in the same way I’d been helped. Since then, I’ve spent 2 years on staff back at Nebraska, and now am going on my 2nd year of staff in Lawrence where I minister to women in the Greek system and disciple several women one-to-one. I can’t imagine a better way to obey Jesus’ call to be a fisher of men (or women)!

I grew up in Lawrence, KS. I met the Navigators while studying at Kansas State University. God used several key older students trained by the K-State Navigators to invest in my life and help me grow in following Jesus. Following in their footsteps and trusting in God, I began to grow in giving my life away to others by living and discipling among the lost on campus at K-State. After graduation in Spring 2010, God called me to invest the next two years in the Navigators’ EDGE Corps program while serving students at KU.
Taylor & Christy Scott
Christy and I grew up in Lawrence and Wichita respectively. We met through Navs as students at KU and our friendship actually began on a trip out at The Navigators headquarters in Colorado. Throughout college, we were both deeply impacted by Navs’ focus on relationships and a personal relationship with God. We love working at KU and are thrilled to be involved with the spiritual growth of students. Christy is in her second year on staff with The Navigators and I am in my first year

Sally Strnad
I came on staff with the Navigators in August 2011 after graduating with a music therapy degree from KU in May 2011. I grew up in Munden, a small town in north-central Kansas, where a little, white country church provided a background to the teachings of the Bible. While a student at KU, that foundation was built upon by the KU Navs, specifically through the introduction of one-to-one discipleship: coming alongside someone, meeting them where they are, and helping them understand how Jesus transforms everyday life. I lived in Miller Scholarship Hall throughout all four years of college, and loved learning (through the encouragement and teaching from the KU Navs) more about how to share Jesus with others.
I spent my final year of college in Minneapolis, MN completing my music therapy internship at a preschool for children with special needs. It was there that I realized deeply connecting with others on a spiritual level wasn’t just something for my college years, it was something I wanted to do for a lifetime.
Now that I am back at KU, I love being able to help women in college grow and mature in their understanding of Jesus Christ and how that affects their relationships with others. On any given day, you can most likely find me at a coffee shop reading and discussing the Bible with women who are hungry to grow in their walk with Jesus. I love Jesus’ statement in John 17: 3 “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”

Gary & Doreen Wirsig
Doreen and I joined the KU Navs as volunteer staff in August 2011. We have been involved with the Navigators in various capacities over the last 30 years during my career in the Air Force.
After trusting Jesus Christ as savior in 1971, I was trained by the Navs, first as an enlisted airman in Nebraska and then as a student at KU.
Doreen is a Nav missionary kid. She was born in Taiwan and has lived extensively in Asia. After graduating from Singapore American School, she completed her undergraduate degree at Iowa State University.
Our paths crossed as team leaders at a Nav Training Program in 1979. After an intense six weeks, we both felt that the Lord was leading us toward marriage. We were engaged and a year later we attended the one-year graduate program at Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon, and anticipated serving the Lord full time in Asia.
Instead, the Lord reversed our direction and put me back in the Air Force, where we were to remain until February 2011. Throughout my Air Force career, the Lord provided Doreen and me many opportunities to be involved spiritually in the lives of my co-workers and their families through evangelism, Bible study, and follow-up/discipleship.
As volunteer staff at KU, we are privileged to work with ROTC cadets, with the goal of providing them with a spiritual foundation to enable them to honorably serve the Lord and their country at the same time. We love being back in an environment with young folks eager to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Matt Williams
My name is Matt Williams, and this is my first year on staff with The Navigators’ EDGE Corps at KU. I was married to the girl of my dreams, Kristin, on July 25, 2010. Kristin and I met as undergrads at Duke University, and Kristin is currently pursuing a medical career at the University of Kansas Medical School. I played four years of college baseball at Duke, was drafted by the Chicago Cubs, played one season of professional baseball, and then retired to pursue God’s call on my life into ministry. While at Duke, God used the one-on-one discipleship of one man to eternally transform my life. That man’s name was Mike, and Mike worked for a collegiate ministry very similar to The Navigators called Campus Outreach – in fact, in Campus Outreach we often used Navigator materials, books, and tools. My life was so profoundly impacted by a one-on-one, life-on-life discipleship relationship that I wanted to be a part of a ministry where I could be used by God to influence others in the same meaningful way Mike influenced me. Through my involvement with Campus Outreach I was very familiar with The Navigators and when I found at that The Navs were at KU, I decided to apply. By God’s grace I was accepted, and now I am excited to see God move on the KU campus!
